The following is the list of magical abilities canon to the Harry Potter Universe. Those in italics are not allowed on the site at this time. For further information about these abilities please see the Magical Abilities Rules thread.
Animagus
An animagus is a witch or wizard who can transfigure themselves into an animal at will. The process is extremely difficult to master and can take even a gifted witch or wizard months to even years to master properly. All Animagi (plural form) are registered with the Ministry of Magic. (We do accept Unregistered, but those are rare and there will be certain requirements that have to be met and maintained.) As this is such a dangerous and complicated branch of magic no children will be accepted as Animagi at this time.
Metamorphmagus
A metamorphagus is a witch or wizard born with the innate magical ability to transform their appearance or bits of their appearance at will. This is not an ability that can be learned as they are born with it. Metamorphmagi (plural form) are rare and the ability does not always pass on to offspring or from generation to generation. As this is the case the number of metamorphmagi on the site will be limited.
Legilimens
Legilimency is the art of reading another person's mind. This branch of magic is very difficult in the fact that it casts the caster into the other persons mind, allowing them to view their memories, thoughts, and everything else. Through this, they can use their memories or anything else against the person to good or ill intent. The spell is often labeled as Dark Magic because of the pain it causes when a Legilimens enters a person's mind. The ability takes years to perfect and as such the number of true Legilimens are rare. That being said, the number of Legilimens on the site will be limited.
Occlumens
Occlumency is the art of shielding one's mind from another person. This branch of magic is very difficult in the fact that the caster has to concentrate on keeping their thoughts, memories, emotions and everything else away from the other person. Those who are successful occlumens are able to shield everything at any moment from all threats. The ability takes years to perrect and as such the number of true Occlumens are rare. That being said, the number of Occlumens on the site will be limited.
Wandless
A wandless is a witch or wizard who can perform magic and cast spells without the aid of a wand. The practice takes several months to even years to perfect and can still go wrong with even the greatest and most powerful wandless. As this ability is an advanced form, no one under the age of 14 can get approved for it. In order to be approved you must have been taught by another Wandless for a minimum of 3 months. Since this is a difficult ability the number of true wandless will be limited.
Seer
A Seer is someone born with the innate ability to see the future and make predictions and prophecies. They are naturals at the art of Divination as it is in their blood. A Seer is a very rare gift and one that is normally passed down through a family line thought not always from generation to generation. As this ability is very rare and due to its Metagaming, Powerplaying and God Moding potential at this time we will not be allowing it on the site. The only character with this ability is Sybil Trelawney.
