Centaurs
Centaurs are part human and part horse. They live mainly in forested areas where they gather in clans or herds. They are the most renowned astronomers and have an innate gift for astrology and predicting things from the alignment of the heavens. The largest known herd currently resides in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Currently the Centaurs are not pleased with the Ministry due to their restrictions on their lands and other various aspects of their life.
Goblins
Goblins are very strange creatures indeed. They make some of the best weapons with mysterious properties and are among the greatest at finances and dealing with money. The largest group of known goblins currently work for Gringotts Bank in Daigon Alley.
Ghosts
Ghosts are the apparitions of those who have passed into the afterlife. However, something kept them here on the earth in a form that is not tangible or physical. Once one becomes a ghost, they are stuck in a sort of limbo and cannot move on but cannot go back either. For most it is the fear of being dead that keeps them here but there are other reasons as well.
House Elves
House Elves are born into forced servitude or slavery, where they will serve one house forever unless freed. They are not allowed wands but have significant power of their own that is hard to understand. They are usually quite docile and easy to maintain though there are a few, Dobby, that like to bend the rules. A house elf will only be freed if the family that it is serving presents it with clothes. Most house elves live peaceful enough lives, though there are some who end up with families that treat them worse than anything imaginable.
Merfolk
Merfolk live deep within the seas and lakes in cities, towns, and villages built either by them or lost to the waters of time. They are part fish with humanlike torsos, heads, hair, arms and hands and the tail of a fish. Most would call them Mermaids and Mermen as that is the differentiating genders though they live in a society where women rule. The largest known colony in Britain lives in the Black Lake at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Muggles
Muggles are humans born without Magical blood or power. They are the normal every day people who run the world and know nothing usually of Magic or its existence. The Ministry of Magic works closely with the Muggle Ministry and Government to ensure that the Statute of Secrecy is upheld. Muggles being the reason that it was put into place, for their safety as well as that of the Wizarding World.
Lycanthropy
A lycanthrope is someone who has been infected with the disease and turns into a werewolf at every full moon. The infected person looses all sense of self and consciousness during the full moon and becomes the beast within. There is no known cure for Lycanthropy, however the Wolf's Bane Potion can help to curb the lack of consciousness during the full moon. At this time only ADULT characters who apply will be accepted as Werewolves. Due to their extreme danger to others, werewolves will be limited and have several rules to follow.
Squibs
Squibs are those born into all magic families but have no magical power. They are rare but it can happen and most are usually left on their own and move into the muggle world. Some though find work for themselves in the magical world. Argus Filch is one who found his way into the Caretaker position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Vampire
A vampire is a member of the living dead, a person who was drained by another vampire before drinking that vampires blood. Vampires cannot perform magic and are not allowed a wand. They feed on the blood of others to survive but can go for days, weeks, months or even years without feeding. The longer a vampire goes without feeding, the more dangerous, mindless and reckless they become. They cannot go into the sunlight as it will make them burst into flames. Unless a vampire is put into the sun and left there, stabbed with a stake through the heart, or burned by fire they will live forever. There is no cure for Vampiracy, nor is there a potion or anything else that they can take to calm their thirst or violent tendencies. As they are creatures of the night, they tend to keep to themselves and keep their numbers small. That being said the number of vampires on the site will be regulated and only ADULT characters will be accepted as Vampires. Due to their extreme danger to others, they will also have several rules to follow.
